When you’ve been in business for over 60 years, you don’t just build roads, you build trust. At PT Ferro Construction Co., we’re proud to be part of projects that have shaped communities, improved daily life, and prepared Illinois for the future.
In this post, we are revisiting some of our landmark projects, highlighting the work we’ve done, the people it’s impacted, and the legacy we’re continuing to build.
2024 – 2025 Plainfield – Old Town North Roadway Reconstruction
In 2024, PT Ferro served as the prime contractor for the Old Town North Roadway Reconstruction project in the heart of Plainfield’s historic district. This high-impact job focused on modernizing critical infrastructure while preserving the character of the neighborhood.
Scope of Work:
- Full roadway reconstruction
- Replacement of underground utilities
- New sidewalks, curbs, and historic-style lighting
Why It Mattered:
This project balanced the need for updated infrastructure with Plainfield’s vision of maintaining its small-town charm. Safer streets, improved drainage, and increased walkability all contributed to revitalizing one of the village’s most beloved areas.
2014- 2015 – Will County Division of Transportation – Caton Farm Road Reconstruction, Joliet
In the winter of 2012, PT Ferro was awarded a contract with the Will County Division of Transportation to reconstruct Caton Farm Road between County Line Road and Drauden Road in the City of Joliet.

2024 Tinley Park – Harmony Square: Building a Community Destination
In downtown Tinley Park, we are helping bring the vision of Harmony Square to life. This 1.6-acre plaza is being designed as a four-season community gathering space, complete with a concert stage, curling lanes, and a synthetic turf lawn. What started in March of 2024, we will now be looking forward to the anticipated grand opening in July of this year
Scope of Work:
- Site grading and infrastructure preparation
- Brick paver street reconstruction
- Construction of a new connector road
- Utility coordination and staging
Why It Mattered:
This project was more than just roadwork, it was an investment in quality of life. By transforming a vacant parcel into a dynamic public space, we helped create a destination where families can gather, businesses can thrive, and the downtown area can grow. Harmony Square is a model for how thoughtful infrastructure can become a true community centerpiece.
2023 – Will County Division of Transportation – Cedar & Laraway Road Intersection Improvement, New Lenox

- Pedestrian crossing and sidewalk improvements
Why It Mattered:
The new layout reduced traffic delays, improved driver visibility, and added safe, accessible paths for pedestrians and cyclists. For a growing community like New Lenox, it was an investment in smoother commutes and safer streets.

Why It Mattered:
This project consisted of two contracts, done simultaneously, and reconstructed an entire neighborhood from sidewalk to sidewalk, including updated drainage and water pipes, new curb, sidewalk, and full roadway reconstruction. This project greatly improved the lives of residents living in the area.
The Roads We Build Tell a Bigger Story
Our work may start with concrete, asphalt, or utilities, but one thing we know for sure it’s built to last, in more ways than one. Every project leaves a mark that goes beyond the job site. At PT Ferro, we’re proud of the roads we’ve paved, and we’re even more excited about the ones still ahead.
